Gold, on an ordinary Tuesday

There is a jacket in most closets that waits for an occasion. It hangs at the far end of the rail, saved for a wedding, a birthday dinner, the New Year's Eve that never quite goes the way you planned. This blazer could easily become that jacket. We'd like to talk you out of it.

Look closely and the black is threaded with gold, woven in swirls that ripple like light on water. Standing still, it reads almost black. The moment you move, reach for a glass, turn to say something, it catches and glints. It is cut clean and collarless, worn open, with strong shoulders and a waist that nips in before a soft flare at the hip, so it sits easily over almost anything.

Start where you'd least expect it. A plain white tee, your favourite straight jeans, and boots on a cold morning or heels when the evening runs late. The blazer does all the work, and nobody needs to know how little you thought about it.

Then the version for a night you want to remember. Slip it over a V-neck silk slip dress, bare arms underneath, the gold against the sheen of the silk. It is soft and sharp at once, and it looks like the outfit you planned for weeks.

“The best pieces aren't saved for occasions. They make the occasion.”

For the days that ask for polish, wear it over a fine black turtleneck with high-waisted trousers and loafers. Black on black lets the gold carry the whole look, quietly.

And when you're running out the door in whatever you already have on, put it over your shoulders. That's all. It turns a simple outfit into a considered one in the time it takes to find your keys.

Like everything at Amorette, it was found by hand and chosen for the woman who will wear it next. It's on the rail now.
